When Jesus saved me, I was a club DJ, and fully engaged in the lifestyle one might expect from a club DJ---late nights, drugs, and partying. I had a foul mouth, a sharp tongue, and a girlfriend who worked at a Hooters restaurant.
The end of the year is the perfect time to take some time and do a self-diagnostic---reflect back on 2018, bring you heart before God, and set goals for 2019. Is there something God has been trying to tell you? Has there been handwriting on the wall?
But in the middle of my chain-smoking and wild ways, I had a revelation of Jesus at my father's deathbed, and within a year's time God sent me a friend who bought me a New Living Translation Bible...
I can make the same face, too, when God starts to dig around in my heart. I'll never forget when the verse above, Philippians 2:3, came alive to me in a fresh way: "let nothing be done for selfish ambition or vainglory"
